Qualifying Broker/Owner Sharon Bumpas Gilster is the only broker chosen by Leading Real Estate Companies of the World to represent Taos, NM, one of only four LeadingRE members in New Mexico. Her firm was nominated for the LeadingRE Diamond Award and is a recipient of the LeadingRE Crown of Excellence Award, an unprecedented honor for any Taos real estate brokerage. She served as 2010-2011 Vice Chair/Fund Raising Chair of the RANM REALTOR® Political Action Committee-New Mexico. Sharon serves also on the NMAR regional and state Professional Standards Committees, Mediation Committee, and Ombudsman Committee. She has served on Taos County Association of REALTORS® MLS Committee, and the Santa Fe Association of REALTORS® International Council. As a Certified International Property Specialist, the only international designation recognized by the National Association of REALTORS®, she is a global real estate professional who has undergone specialized training focused on conducting business in the international real estate arena. A member of the Taos MLS, Santa Fe MLS, and the Greater Albuquerque Association of REALTORS® MLS association, a licensed real estate broker and formerly licensed appraiser in New Mexico, Sharon offers her listing clients the additional experience of a trained mediator and home staging services as a certified ASP REALTOR®. She holds the additional NAR designations of Certified Residential Specialist, Accredited Buyer Representative, and E-Pro. Clients know her to be a person of high integrity, focused on customer service with a solid understanding of her business and a remarkable ability to listen, evaluate and execute.
Establishing the first multi-service Taos real estate company is a natural extension of her people oriented networking nature. Meeting the inherent challenges of helping her clients connect physically with the awe-inspiring landscape and rich, multi-cultural heritage of northern New Mexico engages her in her Taos real estate work.
A community leader, Sharon made the founding contribution for the Taos Community Foundation Housing Solutions Fund and sat on that fund’s Advisory Council. She is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and member of Taos Milagro Rotary, serves on the Boards of the DreamTree Project and Millicent Rogers Museum, is a participating member of Women Give Taos, and is a member of Taos Chamber of Commerce and its Taos Entrepreneurial Network. She also sponsored Taos Center for the Arts movie series for fifteen years.
Sharon’s professional experience includes the establishment of a contract office and home furnishings dealership in Dallas, Texas which for 15 years offered product sales, interior design, space planning and installation services to a diverse customer base ranging from individuals and small professional offices to government contracts and corporate accounts throughout the United States. Prior to this, Sharon worked in newspaper marketing and circulation management with The Dallas Times Herald, property of Times Mirror Corporation.
A native Dallasite, Sharon visited northern New Mexico frequently since childhood, returning often with her two children. She is a graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas and Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. Having resided in Paris, France, she is fluent in the French language and is learning Spanish. Sharon is a skier, dancer, welder, and artist who enjoys comedy, music, travel, and hiking the Sangre de Cristo mountains with her best Welshie friend, Brychan.
